Remembering Al Lilly

Dr. Al Lilly, Tarleton State, passed away in April of 2005. The longtime Stephenville dentist was memorialized on Saturday, April 1 in Stephenville, Texas at the Beta Sigma Chapter house. Al passed a way due to a lost fight with cancer. Since that time Beta Sigma Chapter at Tarleton State University has made preparations to honor their longtime adviser.

Al became a member of the Rho Chapter at Colorado State University where he attended as an undergraduate. He received his bachelor’s of science degree from Texas Wesleyan University, and his D.D.S. from the University of Texas. Lilly operated his dentist practice in Stephenville for well over a decade and is survived by his wife Mary and their two sons.

Al helped to found the Beta Sigma Chapter in the late 1980s and served as adviser until his death. Lilly was also instrumental in founding the Beta Sigma Alumni Association where he served as president and treasurer. Al was also a Brother of the Century.

The Beta Sigma Chapter has dedicated and named the Chapter Room in their fraternity house as the ‘Dr. Albert Lilly Memorial Chapter Room’. The ceremony took place in conjunction with the chapter’s Founder’s Day celebration. Guests included several university officials and at least a dozen community members. Al’s wife Mary, son Robert, and sister Jo Marie were in attendance from the family. More information can be found at www.agrtarleton.com.
