The foundation matching awards program enables the Alpha Gamma Chapter to double their scholarship awards at Founder’s Day. Using locally raised money and taking advantage of the National Foundation’s matching funds (up to 500 dollars per year), scholarships recognizing the highest GPA, the most improved GPA and the highest big brother/little brother combined GPA have been awarded. In short, the matching funds have allowed the alumni to recognize academic achievement with significant financial award. The availability of the matching funds is a selling point when raising local money. Folks like it when they know their contribution will go a little further, especially when it is encouraging academic success. After several years of participation in the matching program, an adviser to the local chapter described the program as “straight forward and simple.” You get up your share and send it to the national office with an explanation of your intended use. Shortly thereafter a check for twice the amount (up to 1000) arrives. It is a good program encouraging local initiative and supporting the chapter level objectives.
