Boyd Parr Selected as New Director of Livestock & Poultry Health Division
Boyd Parr, Clemson, was selected as the new director of animal health regulatory programs for the Clemson University Livestock & Poultry Health Division based in Columbia, South Carolina. The programs regulate testing and movement of livestock and poultry, auction markets, sales and all animal disease control programs in South Carolina. Boyd joined the universities division at Clemson in 2004 working with the cattle and dairy herds. Prior to joining Clemson he was in private veterinary practice for 26 years. His practice, in Newberry, South Carolina, focused on cattle, primarily dairy, throughout the Carolina’s and in Georgia. Parr earned his bachelors degree in pre-professional studies in animal and veterinary studies from Clemson University. He earned his doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Georgia in 1978. Boyd became a member of the Beta Zeta Chapter at Clemson University in 1974. Parr has professional affiliations with the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Bovine Practitioners, Society for Theriogenology, S.C. Association of Veterinarians (Large Animal Academy), American Jersey Cattle Association, S.C. Jersey Cattle Association, Newberry County Cattlemen’s Association and Farm Bureau of Newberry County.
Roger Mahr Elected President of American Veterinary Medical Association
While serving his term Mahr pledges to focus on improving human and animal health, increasing the number of veterinarians entering the areas of food safety, biomedical research, academia, regulatory medicine and emergency health preparedness. Roger received his veterinary medical degree in 1971 from Iowa State University. He became a member of the Eta Chapter at Iowa State University in 1966. Following graduation, he became an associate veterinarian in the Chicago suburbs of Morton Grove and Evanston for three years. Mahr established, owned and directed the Meadow View Veterinary Clinic in Geneva, Illinois, an accredited hospital member of the American Animal Hospital Association, from 1974 through 2004. Mahr has been active in organized veterinary medicine his entire career. He has served as member, officer and committee member to many local, state and national veterinary associations. He is also well known for his community and civic activities in Geneva and St. Charles, Illinois. Roger and his wife, Marilyn, reside in St. Charles, Illinois, and have two children, Deanna and David.
Shawn Jasper Joins Republican Leadership Team of New Hampshire Shawn Jasper, New Hampshire, was appointed as member of the Republican Leadership Team for the New Hampshire House of Representatives in May. Seven others also joined the new team. Shawn is serving his fifth term as New Hampshire State Representative; he is a former Majority Whip and currently serves Chairman of the Legislative Ethics Committee. He is married and has one daughter. Fraternally he is a 32 degree Mason and a member of the Shriners. Shawn is the President of Jasper Corporation; which began as a Poultry Farm in 1916. He became a member of the Omega Chapter in 1977. He has served as Chapter Adviser since 1988. Shawn also earned the Brother of the Century Award.
