2005 National Grand President
Award Winners

Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity is
proud to announce the four Grand President's Award winners for Professional
Achievement. The fraternity presents the award to members under age 40 who
have achieved outstanding success in their professional careers. These
young, emerging leaders will serve as role models for our undergraduate
members and those just starting their professional careers. The award will
provide opportunities for interaction with AGRs at Leadership Seminars and
visits with chapters. The awards were
presented at the four Leadership Seminars.
Daren Coppock,
Oregon State, is the chief executive officer of the National Association of
Wheat Growers (NAWG), headquarted in Washington, D.C. Coppock came to NAWG
from his home state of Oregon. He served five years as the executive vice
president of the Oregon Wheat Growers League (OWGL).
Daren is a graduate of Oregon State University in
Agricultural and Resource Economics. He is a past national Vice President of
FFA (1986-1987) and past state President of Oregon FFA (1984-85). Daren was
recognized at the fraternity's 100th anniversary as one of AGR's Brothers of
the Century, an honor bestowed on less than 2 percent of the fraternity's
membership. He was born and raised on a wheat and cattle farm in eastern
Oregon, near Pendleton. He and his wife Mechelle have three children, James,
Sarah and Renee, and reside in Falls Church, Virginia, where they are
members of Fairfax Community Church.
Doug Eckrote, Purdue, is senior
vice president of purchasing and operations for CDW Corporation and
president of CDW Logistics; a FORTUNE 500 company and leading provider of
technology products and services for businesses, government agencies and
educational institutions.
Eckrote graduated from Purdue University in 1986 with a
bachelor's degree in agricultural sales and marketing. He is on the board of
directors of The Center For Enriched Living and Make-A-Wish Foundation of
Illinois. In 2002, he was named one of Crain's Chicago Business "Forty Under
Forty" business leaders. Eckrote is the father of five and lives in Long
Grove, Illinois with his wife Kim. He is active in the Northwest Christian
Community Church and the Cub Scouts.
Anthony Haynes,
Tennessee-Martin, has just been appointed by the University of Tennessee as
director of state relations for the UT system. He officially began his
duties April 1. Haynes will work with state lawmakers during the legislative
sessions and be
involved with local communities building and maintaining good relationships
with state agencies throughout the year.
Haynes holds a B.S. in Agriculture (in Plant & Soil Science)
from the University of Tennessee - Martin, and a Masters in Public
Administration from the University of Memphis. During his undergraduate
years Anthony served as Noble Ruler of the Alpha Upsilon Chapter. Anthony
and his family currently reside in Nashville, but spend most weekends on the
family farm in rural west Tennessee.
David McDonald graduated with a
B.S. in Animal Science from Iowa State in 1987. In 1987, fresh from ISU,
project manager David McDonald joined OSI Industries- a growing food
processor. His goal was a challenging one: expand OSI's business
internationally in Latin America and Asia. McDonald proved so successful at
this task and others that he eventually was promoted to senior executive
vice president/Americas and Asia/Pacific zone manager before his 40th
birthday. Today he serves on the board of directors for the company, which
has grown to become one of the largest privately held companies in the world
and generates more than $3 billion in annual revenues as a supplier of beef,
pork, poultry, pizza, seafood, and vegetable products to customers around
the world.
Today, McDonald lists his most important roles as husband to
Mindy and dad to Scott, Megan, Katie, Brian, Clare, and Bridget. David and
his family live in Warrenville, Illinois. Committed
to faith, family, and community, he is a member of the St. Michael School
Board and St. Michael Parish Capital Campaign committee and has worked with
numerous civic projects in his hometown. He is a lifetime member of the ISU
Alumni Association, for which he has been involved as both a volunteer and
alumni ambassador.
