AGR Undergraduate Directors

2005-2006 Undergraduate Directors
Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity is proud to announce the election of
Undergraduate Directors to its National Board of Directors. The 2005-2006
Undergraduate Directors are Joshua Smitherman, Auburn University; Ben
Wicker, Purdue University; Ryan Betka, University of Nebraska-Lincoln; and
Brandon Griggs, Tarleton State University.
Ryan Betka
is a junior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln majoring in Agribusiness
and Finance. Ryan is the VNR Scholarship officer and has served as First VNR,
VNR Recruitment and Public Relations officer for the Kappa Chapter of the
fraternity. On campus he is the Agribusiness Club Community Service Chair
and serves on the College of Business Student Advisory Board.
Ryan is active with the Nebraska Pork Mentor Program. Ryan hopes to serve as
an agricultural loan officer in the future.
Brandon Griggs is a junior at
Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. Brandon is pursuing a
double major in Agriculture Services and Development with teacher
certification and Agriculture Communications. He is the Noble Ruler for the
Beta Sigma Chapter of the fraternity, and served as VNR Planning, and VNR
Recruitment offices. On campus Brandon has served on the InterFraternity
Council, as a College of Agriculture and Human Sciences Ambassador, Tarleton
Alumni Association Ambassador, and a collegiate state FFA delegate; among
many activities and honors.
Brandon believes that "The greatest crisis in the world today
is a crisis of leadership, and the greatest crisis of leadership is a crisis
of character." This is his outlook on life and the need for a higher level
of leadership, which he hopes to help fulfill as an undergraduate director
for the fraternity.
Joshua Smitherman is a sophomore
at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. Jason is majoring in
Horticulture/Landscaping and pursuing a minor in Agribusiness Economics. He
is the VNR Management and Operations officer and a member of the Scholarship
Committee for the Xi Chapter of the fraternity. On campus Joshua is a
College of Agriculture Ag Ambassador, has been honored as an Outstanding
Freshman, and is a member of Gamma Sigma Delta Agricultural Honor Society;
among other activities and honors.
Joshua hopes to maintain and graduate with his 4.0 GPA.
Someday he would like to establish a business in fruit production and/or
landscaping. He would also like to serve as an alumni officer and be a
supportive alumni member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity.
Ben Wicker is a junior at Purdue
University majoring in agronomy with specialization in soil and crop
science. Ben is the current Noble Ruler for the Delta Chapter of the
fraternity; he also served as the 2003 VNR Scholarship officer. On campus he
is a member of the College of Agriculture Ambassador Program, has served as
the 2004 Old Masters Central Committee Day- Scheduling co-chair, President's
Leadership Class Sophomore Advisor, and participated in the Ireland Study
Abroad Spring Break 2004; among other activities.
Ben has had a lifelong passion for agriculture. He would like
to be involved in helping shape the direction of the rapidly changing
industry of agriculture and looks forward to giving back to this broad
sector that has enriched his life.
