Alumni Set New Giving Record

Generous brothers and sustained high-performance in the investment market combined to yield the best year in history for the Educational Foundation of Alpha Gamma Rho.

Among the highlights for the Foundation’s fiscal year that ended June 30th were these important achievements:

  • The Annual Appeal raised a record $186,402. This marked the third straight year of increase in dollars donated by alumni, family and friends of the Fraternity.
  • The average gift was a record $63.29. Cost per dollar raised was 25 cents, which is significantly below the average for all nonprofit organizations.
  • Growth in equity was the greatest ever for the Foundation. Total equity grew 24 percent to $1,123,621. Investment assets increased 39 percent. Total assets grew to a record $1,289,649.

The Fraternity is in an even stronger position than a year ago to "make better men" through specific educational programs funded by the Foundation. I want to thank all AGR brothers whose financial contributions led to our outstanding year.

I also want to thank members of the Board and other volunteers who give generously of their time and leadership. I particularly thank Board Members Rick Carpenter and Warren Nichols, who co-chaired our successful 1996-97 Annual Appeal, as well as the brothers who volunteered to lead as chapter chairmen.

We could not have achieved a record year in the Foundation without the dedicated guidance and detailed assistance of the AGR Home Office staff. Their hardworking execution of our Annual Appeal and other funding programs is the key reason our cost per dollar raised is 30 percent below the average of all nonprofit organizations in the United States.
